Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Cup

Partners touch their heads, shoulders, and knees as the leader calls them out, and race to grab the cup when the leader says 'Cup!'

Get ready

  1. Pair kids up and have partners sit or stand facing each other.
  2. Put one plastic cup on the floor or table between each pair.

How to play

  1. The leader calls out body parts, like 'Head! Knees! Shoulders! Knees!'
  2. Kids touch each body part with both hands as it's called.
  3. When the leader says 'Cup!', both partners try to grab the cup first.
  4. Whoever grabs it gets a point. Put the cup back and play again.
  5. Play to 5 points, then switch partners.

Tips & variations

  • Try to trick them by saying words that start like cup: 'Cupcake!' 'Cuddle!' 'Cupboard!'
  • Speed up and slow down to keep kids on their toes.
  • Grab gently. Fingers away from faces when reaching for the cup.
