Get ready
- Play outside on a sunny day in an open area.
- Show kids where their shadows are and set clear boundaries.
How to play
- Pick one player to be It.
- It chases the others and tries to step on someone's shadow.
- If It steps on your shadow, you become the new It.
- Players can hide their shadow by standing in the shade, but only for a count of 5.
- Keep switching taggers until everyone has had a turn or time runs out.
Tips & variations
- Works best in the morning or late afternoon when shadows are long.
- No-touch tagging makes this a good choice for kids who don't like being grabbed.
- For Pre-K, let kids walk fast instead of running.
π Bible connection
We can't get away from our shadow, and we can't get away from God's care either. Psalm 91:1 says those who rest in God's shelter rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
